Sucker Punch
Went last month to see this with a good friend of mine and I have to say over all a very good film. BUT! Be warned that Sucker Punch is not the fast paced film that it is being advertised as. Sucker Punch is an adventure in to the human imagination and exploration of the corrupt and the innocent within a mental institution. Now if you have watched any Disney channel teen show in the last ten years you probably want to catch Sucker Punch then because Vanessa Huggins in stripper boots carrying a machine gun is kind of hot. But the ass kicking girls are still not the point to this film. Sucker Punch pushes CGI to new bounds as visual stimulation with the film hits an all new high. Gun wielding giant samurai warriors mixed with classic WWII bombers being chased by dragons is just the right mix with the hard pounding techno remixes that pound a beat into your brain that carries you out of the theater and leaves you with a confident feeling that while Sucker Punch might not have been what you thought it was going to be, it was still a good movie.
The Social Network:
You know the more I hear about this film the less and less I think it will be considered the break out film about the facebook creator and more about how Trent Reznor went from being that person parents feared to the award winning music composer. The film itself is set in the high paced life of high class people and high class money. The characters within are involved in clubs I knew nothing about and through around such genius and influence that I could never really dream of. The movie really appeals to someone aiming for an ivy league school, or someone who really wants to be the center of connection for money and power within the ivy league system. For someone from BFE, namely me, I missed the importance of getting into the good club or mingling with the right people because really none of those things will drastically shift my life around as it did for the films featured names. On the other hand the success story of a social cancer who was able to make friends online when he could have no friends face to face is always kind of amusing. Mixed with Justin Timberlake playing the napster creator and Trent Reznor doiing the music where could it go wrong. All in all the movie was a momentary delight and easily forgotten by morning.
Just my opinon.
J.
