Every once in a while there is a film that is almost totally ignored by mainstream media and turns out to be a knock down success. This year that film had to be the Guard. Starring Brenden Gleeson and Don Cheadle, the Guard is a wonderfully foul mouthed Irish film that showcases not only the good guys but the bad guys as well. Enter Mark Strong and Liam Cunningham, these two character actors have quickly made names for themselves as the best henchmen in film. All actors give a double barrel dose of full character performances that will have you both laughing, crying, cheering for the good guys, and rooting for the bad. New director, John Michael McDonagh, shines both behind the camera and the type writer, providing a full and rich story that never stops please. Flat out, go and rent the Guard tonight. You won't be sorry, I promise!
