The Avengers

When watching a move, do you ever get a tingling feeling? It starts in the pit of your stomach and flows up through your chest until it gets to the tips of your fingers. Maybe you got it when you saw Tim Robbins crawl from the drain pipe in Shawshank Redemption and holds his hands out to freedom as the rain falls upon him. It could have been the moment where Jaws punches through the Orca's hull and eats Quint as he fights for his life. Remember when Rocky in Rocky II holds the belt over his head and cries out, "Adrian, I did it!" Did you get that feeling in the pit of your stomach? Did you want to jump up and shout and cheer?

Well that's pretty much what the Avengers is like. From start to finish, the film is gut hitting, high impact, heart stopping action that pushes you to your feet and cheer. Director Joss Whedon, along with his cast of Robert Downey Jr. Chris Evans, Mark Ruffalo, Jeremy Renner, and Scarlett Johansson, provide a story that comic book fans have been waiting for since the creation of the Avenger franchise. Decades of waiting, casting anticipations, and film rumors have led crowds to the doorstep of a history making film. 700 million and counting, Avengers may be the first film ever to burst through the billion dollar mark and then some.

I would be a liar if I didn't say that I had my doubts, with the change of Hulk and some other fluctuations, but the movie never stops delivering. Joss Whedon is a film god! His style and mannerisms are clear through out everyone of his projects, be it Buffy the Vampire Slayer, or Firefly, he is down to fall through history as a mentor of the comic book films!

Another element that is a masterful stroke is the on screen chemistry between the cast members. Their dialogue flows, their hard punches have just about as much impact as their comedic ones, and above all their conviction to their roles shines through to transform into actual conviction to fight the good fight. Tony Stark, Captain America, the Black Widow, Hawkeye, the Hulk, and Thor assemble to be the ass kicking team of the decade and it seems that for the distant future, there is no stopping them.

So, if you haven't watched it, go watch it. If you have watched it, go AGAIN!!!!

Just my thoughts,
J.
