My Soul to Take

So sports fans, the other night I was suffering from another bout of insomnia and I came across this Wes Craven film by accident (that's my story and I'm sticking to it). So I figured why not give the ole movie a try, I mean Wes Craven on more than one account has redefined horror. Honestly at the time I thought, how bad could it be?
Oh how stupid I am.
So this premise of this film is a serial killer is slain on the night that these seven children are born and he swears to come back and kill them all for whatever reason he had. The film is a typical teen pop film filled with whatever is popular at the time, no matter how idiotic, and as usual the film centers around the weakest of this group. Now I'm not going to give anything away, as if there were something to give away, but lets say the film is filled with half done twists and turns which have been down in many films. The thing that got me was the CGI blood.
As a society have we really fallen so far as to use computer generated image of blood in a horror film? I mean corn syrup and food coloring can't be that expensive. Has Wes Craven taken us to a place where special effects perfected over nearly one hundred years of film are replaced by computer generated images? This is just one of the points I'd like to make in this short blog about a horrible HORRIBLE movie. I mean Jason goes to Manhattan was better then this flat film.

So My soul to take gets a big fat ZERO on the star rating. For shame Wes Craven FOR SHAME!! I sure hope this isn't a sign of how Scream 4 is going to be. I was excited but now I am expecting to be disappointed.

Thanks all
J.
