Red Riding Hood

Hey guys,
Sat down with my wife to watch what I assumed to be a horrible movie and I am pretty surprised to say that I was wrong.

Red Riding Hood, starring Amanda Seyfried and Gary Oldman, is a new take on a classic tale brought to us by director Catherine Hardwicke. The film is filled with beautiful scenery and vivid imagery that brings together characters and plot on a well matched field with a Werewolf. Amanda Seyfried plays Red Riding Hood, aka Valerie, a young woman who lives in a remote village plagued by a monstrous wolf. Add to the mix Gary Oldman, a zealot monster hunter, who lives to serve god and his taste for violence by hunting this monster. The film starts out as predictable, but through the progression delivers something entertaining and original.

Though there were a few problems. The first five minutes of the film is a horrible reminder of the Twilight phase that most films are going through. With the beautiful actress and the staggeringly handsome, yet tragic, co-star the two leads fight temptation while teaming together to stay in love. Give it some time folks, the movie does get better, sometimes you just have to wait to get the thrills and chills.

All in all the film is well made, entertaining, and gives an original take on an old fairy tale. You should make an attempt to sit down with a significant other and enjoy this fun film.
