Hey guys,
It's been busy for me and my movie going experiences. I have seen Captain America, Horrible Bosses, Cowboys and Aliens, and am looking forward to seeing Conan when it hits the big screen, but right now I want to tell you about a movie you won't find in theaters. Right now you can find it at Wal-Mart for thirteen bucks and I urge you to buy it for it will be the best thirteen bucks you have spent in a long time.
The film is called Stake Land and it is a low budget post apocalyptic film about a group of people surviving through a plague of vampires. Now let me express I was totally expecting this film to be crap. The effects are low budget, the vampires are pretty much what 28 days later was and all in all the whole feeling of the film is pulp fiction in the works. However! Get through the first ten minutes of the film and you will be treated to a true coming of age story as far as vampires are concerned. The characters are not CGI altered or big budget names, they're human and really that's what this story is about humanity. From Mister to Martin to the young pregnant girl even to the brotherhood, this film is hitting on all eight cylinders and provides some real scares along with a real story. I LOVED IT. There's no other way to put it.
It's PRETTY damn sad that Hollywood has millions upon millions of dollars to pump out film after film of just grade A crap. Here's a low budget film, filled with no named actors, and wow, just wow. If you have any doubts, please go and rent the movie, see for yourself and know that Stake Land may be looked over by the academy awards but it certainly deserves a few.
Just my Thoughts.
J.
