The American

Just got finished with this one and all I can say is that is was a large step away from what George Clooney has been doing. Directed by Anton Corbjijn, The American is a very lengthy and dry movie. Much in the style of Roman Polanski's films Anton utilizes dry dialogue with breath taking wide span shots to propel a main character down the projected path of plot line. George Clooney shines as a remorseful killer but fails at convincing the audience that his sub-par soul soul searching is enough to push him out of the business and into the arms of a former hooker. The film has some twists and turns but for the most part is rather predictable and unlike Roman Polanski's films, there is no sudden surprise at the end. Sad to say it but the American only gets a two stars. It's watchable, some what entertaining, but not memorable at all.
Sorry George,

J.
